Get Off My Land_Douglas Ray
Get off my land is a short film consisting of 3 characters. A male and female (couple) and land owner. This film began with pleasant scenery of trees and wide open spaces. The couple venture through the woods to a gate leading into a large area. As they continue on they meet the not so happy land owner. This owner warns the couple they are trespassing on private land which is against the law. Disagreeing with the owner the boyfriend confronts the man about rights and responsibility. Twist within the short film, after being corrected the and owner was not very amused with the boyfriends cocky ways, goes back he his tractor and receives a gun. Loading and threatening the couple plead with the man to forgive them and let them pass through to an area of land with a public footpath. The weapon holding owner shoots the boyfriend leaving him collapsing to the floor. It is getting towards the end of the film and we begin to think the female gets out of the horrible situation alive…wrong. As the boyfriend fell to the ground she lets out a piercing scream leaving the owner to hesitate and firing at her too. The film ends with the land owner driving away leaving behind the two dead lovers. Personally I thought this short film was interesting yet too short to really relate and understand. The film being so short left me unable to know and pity the couple’s unfortunate ending, and hate upon the elderly owner. The mood without this film was continuously changing, beginning with peaceful and relaxed and ending with shock and pure interest.
